The houses are not completely gone, the foundations can still be found. In about 10 feet of water. Covered with about 2 feet of sand. Check out Napatree Point, Westerly, RI. It was totally scary and totally fascinating. Entire coastlines of houses were wiped out. They had this one shot of a spit of land filled with summer houses (I think it was in Rhode Island), then they dissolve to the "after" photo from the same vantage point, and there's nothing there.
