look, you have a point. Perhaps the Hubble telescope would work better if
more attention had been paid to the credentials of the designers. However.
IT is not a static body of knowledge. The CS grad with no experience has,
chances are, NO experience with CF, networking or any of a myriad of skils
in the field. They may never have been exposed to unix, or java, depending
on the program. I dont think a degree per se solves your problem. And if
you are going to require a test beyond the degree, why not just the test?

I kind of like Jerry's idea of ala carte certifications, myself.
