The code was just about final.
They would not leak their own source code...I think that's a little too
far out there in terms of conspiracy theories ;-)
It actually gives games like Deus Ex II and Doom III an advantage if
they are released on time and before Half Life 2.
So they are putting themselves at a great disadvantage.
