Jerry:

Just out of curiousity...how do you have 240GB stored?  do you have any kind of backup?

More curious about the backup issue, as I have (what I thought was) a fairly large collection (about 45GB) on one 80GB drive...and have often thought about the inevitable HD crash.

Anyone else?  Others have mentioned considerable-sized mp3 collections.  Backed up onto 100 CDs?  20 DVDs?  Have you invested in tape backup? :)

  Ray,

How is it handling a collection of that size? How long to initially start up, and how long to display the collection pane?

Musicmatch has serious memory issues with large collections. I've had to break my collection into separate lists, and change between them as needed (mostly genre based).

I'd switch tonight if iTunes can handle larger collections (I'm up around 240 GB now, with about 20GB of my iPod filled.)

(And can iTunes handle the iPod? I assume so, but figured I'd ask.)

Yes, I'm using as my player now for multiple reasons -

The radio player is very nice - it evens displays track info which my
other player did not. I also like how I can browse via genre and artist.
My file system had been set up so that my cd rips and my.... um... other
mp3s were separate. I imported both main folders (all 40+ gigs), and now
I have an easier way of browsing my entire collection.
