My parents would like to upgrade their OS to Windows XP(I think they are on win98 now). I'd like for them to go with pro, mostly so that I can remote desktop when I need to help them with anything.
Amazon shows the upgrade @ $139.99, and the full version for $219.99. My only concern is that the upgrade will make me have a prior version installed rather than just ask for the disk of a prior version, making a clean install a bit of a pain.
Can anyone verify that I can do a clean install and just present it with a disk?
Also, what is usually the minimum required equipment purchased to get an OEM copy? Will a stick of ram do?
Where is the best/cheapest place to buy online? I will check around the local stores but I seem to remember it usually being at around $150.
