  I've seen the exact thing happen with a woman I know. She married this guy
  who pulled that sort of routine several times - make a major purchase
  without informing her. First it was an expensive computer, and then a
  Camero. There was a couple of other similar incidents, unfortunately I
  can't remember them. She essentially supports the both of them as this guy
  does not work, beyond an occasional part time job - and  those last
  typically less than 2 to 3 weeks.

  I can understand where Matt's fiancee is coming from.
