I'm talking about the schools not the teachers. Many teachers are in fact selfless and inspiring individuals (tho others are petty tyrants who are passive-aggressively working out their frustrations on people who are in their power). I am talking about a system that says it's ok to fail a kid because a teacher doesn't like his handwriting and if he acts out he is clearly the one who has the problem...

And I am not just talking about NM schools either. Montgomery County MD was all in favor of me quitting my job so James did not have to attend a different school, and that was the way it was going to be until I started rubbing their nose in it. He was a white kid in the district of a mostly black school and they weren't going to let him transfer because of "the stability of the Gaithersburg cluster", even if his mother was a single parent barely making the rent at the time when she *was* working. You tell me that isn't smug bureaucracy.
