> Yes, but PCs are completely upgradable.

Really? Even the $400 ones which are being pushed now with a built-in
graphics card and small foot-print that can't have a replacement
graphics card or motherboard?

How about making a SWEEPING statement <g>

But you've been going on about a machine being out of date as soon as
it's released - you'd have to get top of the line processor, memory,
hard disk and graphics card... And for that you're talking $2,000

> $1000?  I just upgraded my system for about CAD$400, and that

What about a top of the line graphics card?

And for CAD$400 there is NO WAY you've got a top of the line processor!

Upgrading a system to the not-latest specs is what you've been moaning
about - you're already out of date, so you'd better go an re-buy all of
your new components

Let's see, you brought up DDR2 recently - I bet your new memory isn't
that :P

> Yeah, some of us like old games.  Maybe you don't.

Personally I keep my PCs for work and my consoles for play - it's why my
machine is Windows 2000

If I wanted to play PC games then I'd either buy a new machine or a
Phantom!

If you want to buy Johnny a PS1, then why not go even older and buy him
a NES? They're REAL cheap with loads of games on eBay :P

You want to give him a machine that's well over 5 years old (PS1), then
you're REALLY talking old spec - why not give him an Atari 2600 while
you're at it :P

In which case they're not gonna get a "top of the line" system for $500
are they?

I want a BMW Z4 but only pay $1,000 - can I have one of those please?
