I've left both of your quotes there - your sweeping statements are the
ones which blow holes in your statements!

Like saying the Xbox isn't popular when it's not AS popular as the PS2 -
you dumped that point quickly, didn't you? :P

So, when you said this:

> Besides, by next year, it'll be totally obsolete (it already
> sorta is; Athlon XPs are end of life, and the new Geforce is

You didn't actually mean that it's already out of date by saying "it
already sorta is"? Or was that some other [EMAIL PROTECTED]

> Assuming, of course, that the Phantom is upgradable.

It's a PC - rip out the motherboard and put in another one!

> Who said top of the line?  Why do I need a top of the line
> processor for?

Your yourself said that the Phantom has built-in obsolecense (in
different words), so you're buying obsolete technology - you're buying
exactly what you're complaining that the Phantom has - obolete hardware!

> I haven't been moaning about anything.  You, on the other
> hand, have your panties in a bunch.

Fine, you're right - you've argued that the Phantom is useless as it
won't be able to run the newer games when they come out, but also that
it's completely useless as it won't run the incredibly old games

Yes, I'm the one who has stuck to a single line of argument and not
changed tack 5 times every time someone has proved my point wrong...

You remind me of someone we used to have on a forum I post on - every
time someone proved his point wrong, he'd change his argument COMPLETELY

> Lots of people don't.  I don't.  I haven't bought a console in years.

That's because a lot of people buy their computer for home use - which
includes games - and any new machine will have XP on them, so they're
running exactly the same OS as the Phantom, and most probably similar
hardware specs

> Sure.  I guess you agree with me then that the Phantom is
> overkill then for little Johnny.

If you take that attitude, then a PS2, Xbox and GameCube are overkill
for little Johnny! In fact, if I was to be a parent, I'd give them a
good book as children these days aren't reading enough!

> Nope.  So then, who is the Phantom for?  You said that little
> Johnny gets to have a NES/Atari 2600, and the rabid fans want
> to get something more powerful than the Phantom.

Same thing the PS2, Xbox and GameCube are for! Game players who want to
turn on a machine and just play a game - the "rabid" gamers will have a
tricked out piece of hardware that set them back thousands...

> > I want a BMW Z4 but only pay $1,000 - can I have one of

> Sure.  I have a paypal account you can put the money in.
> Expect delivery next week.

And if it doesn't arrive, I'll sue you for the item and take you to
piece for it, OK? <g>
