ok, now another question. What kinda boot disk is best to use? i am using a windows 98 boot disk, cos it's the only one that doesn't take up 4 disks! lol
Also, someone mentioned earlier that I should install a USB driver onto the boot disk. do i just put a USB driverin there? haha

Chances are, the driver will either a) require/allow you to tell it what
drive letter to assign or b) tell you on boot.
However, I'm thinking that if you don't know how to determine what drive
letters are live in dos, maybe this isn't the best route to take....
