My wife noticed those "Have You Seen Me" mailers almost always seem to
be a parent and a young child... usually 2 or 3.  You can't help but
speculate as to what caused the mom or dad to run off with their toddler
- divorce, abuse, financial or legal problems, mental problems.  While
I'm sure abductions by strangers are exceedingly rare (I remember
reading some statistics and analysis a while back, but won't pretend to
be an expert), they're definitely the most, um, dramatic, from a news
standpoint.  I'd guess most news producers would keep away from
interfamilial abductions like the plague.
