Works influenced by him are EVERYWHERE. The excellent "Alone in the Dark"
series of PC games are directly influenced by his work. Much of the
"batman" mythos (especially the "Arkham Asylum" where most of Batman's
villains spend their off hours - get the phenomenal graphic novel if you can
find it). I find Clive Barker to be generally more "Lovecraftian" than
other modern horror writers I've read.
Many of his books are available online either as free or low-cost ebooks.
Try a short story and if you like it pick up one of the collections:

I'm not sure if anything is actually in the public domain however as none of
his books are up at Project Gutenberg.

Most of his work was short stories, frequently for horror/sci-fi magazines,
so most of his books are actually paperback collections, which can be had
for $5-$8. As far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with any of his work,
but my personal favorite story of his is "The Shadow Over Innsmouth."

I'm getting a bit curious about this lovecraft author. Anybody can
recomend a good representative book that he wrote for me to read?
