Just gave it a cursory review but can tell you this ...

I don't know if you can do the Tower of London AND reach Leeds in the
same day. It's a 5 (approx.) hour drive from London. But you can try ;)
:D

Scratch Loch Ness off. You won't make it with that Scotland itinerary.
Castle Urqhuart is on Loch Ness, so scratch that. from Glascow, Lochness
is a good 3-4 hours driving on treacherous skinny wind-y roads.

>From Scotland, you'll need to get a Ferry from Stranraer to Belfast
(book tickets NOW - use the web, google ferries scotland - belfast)
Should be a couple hours across to Ireland

After Belfast, you'll need a ferry to Liverpool. That ferry will take
approx 6 hours to cross. Then from Liverpool to Bristol is another
approx 6 hours.

>From there you will be able to cut down to Salisbury and see
Stonehendge, then off back to London .... but that drive is also another
6 approx. hours.

One of the things about driving around England is you have to factor in
going no more than about 50 MPH down many of the roads, and there are
not a lot of city BYPASSES, which means you are often stuck going right
through the center of towns and cities, sometimes not at the best time
of day.

You'll be passing PLENTY of pubs, just stop at the ones that look
interesting. They are all great. In my mind.

If you trust me, I've done all these places you listed (except Belfast)
and more. So I do know what I talk of. ;) :D

Email me if you need help with something ... We're connected ;) :D I can
whip out my driving maps and get better times and give you more websites
for the ferries and what not.

You will be able to keep the same car .. Just make sure you get
unlimited mileage. :D

Cheers,
Erika

Ok, after quite a bit of drinking over the weekend.  My brother and I
have
hashed out a preliminary itinerary.  We've poured over the "Fodor's
England"
book and found quite a few things to do, but we have some questions.

First here's the schedule:

All Dates are in May

5/5 Arrive in London @7:00 am

Night of:

5th         Leeds/York area

6th         Edinburgh

7th         Glasgow

8th         Belfast

9th         Liverpool

10th       Bristol

11th       London

12th       Leave @12pm

Our plan is to rent a car, preferably something sporty and convertible
:-)
and head out from London on the first day.  The cities listed above are
the
approximate distances we'd like to go each day.

Questions:

Is this possible to make this trip in this time?

Is it possible to rent a car in London and keep it the whole trip
including
a trip into Northern Ireland?

Where would be the best place to ferry to/from Northern Ireland?

Aside from what Fodor's lists in their book, can you recommend
interesting
places/things to see near these destinations?

Most importantly, are there any 'must visit' pubs along our route?

So far, our list of things to see includes:

The Tower of London

Big Ben

Stowe-in-wold?

Stonehenge

Loch Ness

Castle Ur-something :-) (Any other recommendations?)

We'd like to do some biking/hiking also

And pubs, pubs, and lastly pubs

Thanks

Marlon
