apologies. I do know that this particular soldier, from everything that I
have read about him, would not want to be singled out in the way that we
know he will be. I guess my thing is that we overuse words like courage and
hero when talking about professional athletes, and Pat Tillman was a true
hero first, and athlete second, which makes his death that much more
distressing to me.
I was very afraid to find out what the Gold star represented (I knew what
service flags were), and I was right in my assumption. Your family members
have made the ultimate sacrifice, and whatever my personal politics may be,
I know that I am indebted to them, and you are in my thoughts.
