I have a suggestion. There seem to be at least a few of us that are
having trouble with ColdFusion restarts on Linux. We have all been
through the usual routine of locking down variables and updating
necessary libraries.

It is very likely that we all have some similar configuration issue that
is causing these restarts. If we compare setups, maybe we can narrow
the possibilities down and figure out which part of the setup is causing
the problem.

If I have been following this right, then Xing, Dane, and myself all run
RH Linux, Apache, CF 5, and mySQL. Let's get specific with versions.
Mine are:

Linux server.adelphi.edu 2.4.3-6smp #1 SMP Wed May 16 04:29:16 EDT 2001
i686 unknown
Apache/1.3.19 (Unix) (Red-Hat/Linux)
ColdFusion Server 5, 0, 0, 0 Professional
mysql Ver 11.13 Distrib 3.23.36, for redhat-linux-gnu (i386)

I'm using the Merant mySQL driver for DB connections.

Xing,

Are you saying that if CF on Linux is serving a million+ pages per day,
it
will crash and restart and theres nothing you can do about it?
Is it due to serving the pages or the db requests?
