Ed,

I always used named locks when doing CFFILE - it is one of those external
processes that always has the potential for hanging threads. Do you lock
your file calls?

After going through virtually every line of code in the app I've solved the
problem I was having, turns out there were two pieces of code in the site
that were causing problems. There was a SQL query doing some unorthodox
things when search terms were fed into it, and also the use of <cffile> in
parts of the site seems to have caused memory to leak like water through an
old roof.... You live and learn...
