I've installed production machines with everything from redhat 6.1 to fedora core 3. As for doing an update, I've done a redhat 8 to 9 update with no problems. Then again, I had the courage because I had backed up the box first.
Always risky doing an update on a working machine without backing up in case first. After a recent board meeting they've decided to look into upgrading the operating system, because RedHat are no longer supporting or updating RH7.2. Being a charity organisation money is scarce, so I'm trying to come up with the a number of suggestions for a path the can take. To complicate matters the hardware is their own, so its not as simple as transferring to a new leased box. To be honest, its been a while since I looked at anything *nix based, so I'm kinda out of the loop on what hot and what's not, what's a good CF platform and what's not or even if there are any upgrade paths from RH7.2, so any help you folks can give me would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance and best regards Stephen ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Find out how CFTicket can increase your company's customer support efficiency by 100% http://www.houseoffusion.com/banners/view.cfm?bannerid=49 Message: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=i:14:4036 Archives: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/threads.cfm/14 Subscription: http://www.houseoffusion.com/lists.cfm/link=s:14 Unsubscribe: http://www.houseoffusion.com/cf_lists/unsubscribe.cfm?user=89.70.14 Donations & Support: http://www.houseoffusion.com/tiny.cfm/54
