@dblodgett-usgs This issue is about relaxing the requirement to always provide (planetary) lat-lon coordinates in addition to any other kind of geospatial coordinates already present in the file. My understanding of what Randy asked for, and you seem to support, is what I would describe as subsampled coordinates of any kind. That's a different issue from this one. I am in favor of first completing this issue and then moving on to that one.
