Given the discussion we had during the meeting, I would also be in favor of encouraging data producers to use the `comments` attribute of the subsampled coordinates variables to describe the process they used to uncompress the data but also the positional error they got during the validation/commission phase.
Maybe we could append a new item at the end of "Coordinate Compression Steps" in Appendix J recommending that data producers check the positional error by comparing the reconstructed coordinates against the original data, and then provide as many details as possible regarding the reconstruction process and results (computational precision, positional error, etc...) in the `comments` attribute of the subsampled coordinates variables. -- You are receiving this because you are subscribed to this thread.
