I didn't know MySQL was a MS database nowadays. Guess I missed the announcement. The issue is actually rather simple, MS is the only database vendor with a relevant marketshare that doesn't offer JDBC drivers free for download for all of their databases. I am quite certain that IBM has something for Informix to download. After all, IBM is one of the major forces behind Java.
