Being as fond as I am of Cold Fusion, and having about 500,000 images and
photos to look after, you might have a look at Extensis Portfolio which has
some capacity to connect to servers as well as have locally stored
galleries. I haven't played with the server side of things so I'm not too
sure how it works but I suspect that you simply connect to a web server
where an Extensis Portfolio Gallery is stored - no reason why you couldn't
control access with some CF stuff I suppose. If Extensis has a web site you
might be able to find out more. It has a catalogue feature that lets you
define the fields as well as its standard fields and of course its all
searchable and you get the benefit of viewing galleries in different ways, a
feature I particularly like. It also has a click and point search thing
which lets you construct simple or complex searches and I think you can
store them for later use (but I'm only relying on memory now).
This may or may not suit you but have a look anyway as you might get some
ideas, not that you'd plagiarise what they've done of course.

Subject: image database
Hi,
I want to setup a large commercial image database for a client.
Like http://www.photodisc.com/
I want to be able to easily add new images, be able to fully search images,
and categories, browse thumbnail images, and have a shopping cart feature
where you can select images for buying, pay for it, then download the full
res image.
Has anyone developed anything like this with Cold Fusion?
Does anyone have any ideas on how to go about the project..........or could
suggest any applications that could do this if CF can't do it well........
I am stumped on how to work with the images..........
any help would be appreciated.
kind regards
chad
