3 different platforms.

Dev workstation with XP, IIS 5 (maybe 6?), connecting to an SQL 7 box (SP
) - SQL server was remote from the CFMX server
Production server with Win2k (sp2 and hotfixes) with IIS 5 connecting to an
SQL 7 box (sp 3) - SQL server remote from CFMX server
Production server with Win2k (sp2 and hotfixes) with IIS 5 connecting to an
SQL 2000 box (sp 2) - SQL server was local to the CFMX server (on the same
LAN).

In each case, the problem occured (and I know this sounds silly) during a
pause in a multi-step form process. In other words, the user would enter
data on "step 1", enter data on "step 2", pause while they figure out what
to do (say 4 minutes or more), the enter data and submit "step 3's" form -
that's when the error would pop. It's not predictable though, as far as I
can tell. I've tried coming up with steps to reproduce it - with no
success. Here's the exact text of the error (if you are interested and don't
already have it):

It happens often enough to cause concern.

"Error","jrpp-27","08/29/02","08:55:38","Sergeants_Taskss","Error Executing
Database Query.[Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Connection reset by peer:
socket write error

Perhaps some TTL setting is too rigid or something. It really seems like
the SQL server "kicked my connection out". Maybe it senses I'm using Java
;-)

I think if you look in the archive you might find some more anecdotal
evidence and descriptions of other platforms/configurations.

Mark,

fyi, we are looking into the JDBC socket error issue.

Could you tell me what OS you are running on where you were seeing these
problems? (i apologize if you had posted this info in another thread).
