we currently measure that only based on that total registrants on the
Fusebox.org site. Since registration is optional (for the purposes of using
Fusebox and its core files or parts thereof) the number is obviously the low
range -- though not the lowest since people are clearly able to downlown
info about the framework without adopting it for 100% of their work.
Certainly it's the most widely known and used framework within the CF
community. I would not know how to measure PHP usage at this time, however.

By the way, based on book sales and typical sales penetration numbers, as
well as our own experience with corporate clients, I would estimate the 20k
number to be off by at least half when you count people who do some Fusebox
work and some "regular" CF work -- so about one in five CF developers.
However, I have my doubts as well about how the 200k CF'ers number is
calculated, so that would effect the ratio.

Fusebox seems to have a rather large penetration within CF-centric
corporations and government facilities. And I'm constantly amazed at how
many of these clients don't even know (or don't care) that there is a FB
email list -- they are truly Fusebox's "silent majority". Or maybe they just
aren't allowed to answer email during the business day :)

(then again, it makes a lot of sense -- mention Fusebox in a casual CF
conversation and you'll get a normal distribution of opinions. Mention it in
public and the adherents and detractors all feel they have to say
*something* which ends up polarizing the whole conversation.)
