Just to update....SUCCESS!!! I'm not sure why the NullPointerError went 
away, but I just shut down the entire JRun application overnight to allow 
Java to clean itself out garbage collection-wise, and when I restarted this 
morning, it worked fine. (scratches head)

One thing to note is that you can't just change the context path in the JMC 
to blank -- you have to put the slash in there or it won't save (an error 
pops up alerting me that a blank value is not acceptable). I had to go to my 
cf_root/WEB-INF/jrun-web.xml file and manually remove the slash to get it 
working. Once I did that, everything started up OK and I seem to working 
fine.

Thanks again Sean for taking the time to help me through this. This is a 
great way to start a Monday.
