That directory is for uploads that aren't processed by a CFFILE
ACTION="" tag.  the file has to be stored somewhere when it is
uploaded as part of recieving the request.  That directory is where it goes.
During the execution of your template, the CFFILE tag simply moves the file
from that temp directory to wherever you specify.  The files that are there
are files that were uploaded (or started to upload) but the receiving CF
template never ran to move the file to 'wherever'.

The rest of the CFFILE actions act directly, with no temp files needed, so
nothing else should be using that directory.

  Subject: Temp Files

Hi All, I've been trying to investigate when a file is written to the temp
file directory in CFMX. I tried uploading a file
with CFFILE and no temp file shows up in this directory. I tried just
submitting the file without using CFFILE to see if
because the file is held there and not moved to a specified location if it
would show up in the temp directory.

In either case the file does not show up in the temp directory. But I'm
confused as to why there where files in the temp
directory which was not the file that I attempted to upload. Why where
there files already in the temp directory that where
not deleted after CF was done using them? And when and in what
circumstances does a file get written to the temp directory?

  Thanks
  Bryan
