from IIS's temp document directory? Which totally goes against what
Barney said.
Not exactly, CF is "getting the file from the HTTP server", and this does not involve a "file", but only an input content passed CF. Wether the content is stored or not in a temporary file and where by the HTTP server depends on the type of server and also probably on the size of the file.
>>1. If a file is uploaded via a form, with using CFFILE or not, CF
saves a tmp file in the tmp directory?
I don't think so. I think CF gets the file from the input stream and stores it to the final destination.
Now the input stream may be saved on disk or in memory, this is completely independant from CF.
>>3. If 1 is false your saying IIS does the uploading. Then if IIS
does that uploading CF just reads the binary information from IIS's tmp
file directory and no file is written to the tmp directory?
Nope, CF has to conform to the ISAPI protocol, which I do not know very well, or to the CGI protocol.
I've written a couple of CGI programs, and they get their input from the input stream.
The input stream may be saved somewhere on disk, but this is only HTTP servers's and OS's business, not CF's.
