multilingual web site in coldfusion? Can anyone tell me how we could go
ahead with cold fusion for multi lingual

first off you should be using mx (6.1). next requirement is that your text
should be encoded using unicode. after that you have to understand that
globalization (g11n) is much more than simply serving text. there's quite a
bit of other things you'll have to deal with: cultural stuff like
date/numeric/currency formatting, collation (string sort oder), BIDI (text
direction, which implies graphics/page layouts/CSS as well), calendars
(islamic, hebrew. chinese, japanese, buddhist, gregorian). then there's the
fact that mx doesn't yet support all java locales (an important subset but
not yet all), are the locales you want to serve among the supported?

app text is best handled using resourceBundles (java flavored key/value
pairs files), text seperated by locale and/or function/logic.

if your app is a CMS, you might consider farcry, which while not 100%
internationalized (i18n), does have most of its i18n obstacles removed &
will save you a ton of time....there are plans to make it fully i18n.
