A language and/or technology is not seen as 'real' unless there is a book on a shelf about it. Does not matter how great it is, without that 'eye space', it does not have the same weight as something else that has a book. And that's besides the advertising weight. I've said in the past that it's well worth it for a company to hire an author or two to put out a few books on their product. A small book can cost 15k from start to finish. A big book (CFML on Blue Dragon 6 for example) might cost a total of 2 or 3 times that. What does a big advertising campaign cost? How much does it cost to have Amazon and every book seller around advertise your company/book for you? Well worth the cost before sales. Finally, how many people who have E-Books still want the print version (I have 1.3 Terabytes of digital comics and I still collect the paper versions). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~| Logware (www.logware.us): a new and convenient web-based time tracking application.
