Right. What it comes down to are an agreement on what MINIMUM levels of security are. Isolation of disk space, memory, etc. should be minimum. I don't feel Macromedia and most hosts, including CT are providing that today. It should be doable even on a shared host. On top of that, you add encryption, SSL, hashed passwords, etc. etc. Those are what takes your basic car to a luxury, nearly bullet proof car. So, while I hate the statement, you get what you pay for, I think that even if you pay a dollar a month, there are certain minimums that must be met. Where I have a problem is I see some things as required, while others feel you should only expect isolation on a dedicated server.

You can't talk about "no security" vrs "complete security" (the latter of which doesn't exist anyway). A cheaper SHOULD be considered "safe" - but it will NEVER be AS SAFE as a luxury car. Your cheap hosting account is MUCH SAFER than it could be, but not AS SAFE as a dedicated account by far. Quality of safety in cars is directly correlated to price, quality of security in hosting accounts also directly correlated to price. I'mnot sure how to say it any more clearly.
