Just to add to those comments...if you look around, you may find some 
comparison articles that may be helpful elsewhere on the net. Here's one from 
the Macromedia (Adobe) site that has some good code comparisons:

Something that might be worth pointing out is that if you intend to use a 
pre-packaged product like CFWebstore, chances are that you are going to have to 
do some customization of it....that's just the nature of ecommerce. Very few 
products are always going to work exactly the way you want them too, so the 
easier the code is to understand and work with, the faster you will be able to 
do that. That's where ColdFusion really has a heads up over other scripting 
languages like PHP....particularly if that's the language you already know. 
It's one of the main reasons I switched to Fusebox...so developers would have a 
known methodology to work from that was also easily extendable.

Of course, you don't mention hosting the site and if that will be an issue. If 
server cost is an issue as well for your boss, don't forget BlueDragon which is 
a great alternative. I have several clients running CFWebstore on it and 
getting great performance (better than CF in some cases).
