That is to say.. You have to have a version of CF for Linux. -Phil

Well...if I've got to have a Linux License (cost?) to run a web server with Cold Fusion, I might as well stay with what I know. I only run one web server right now. -----Original Message----- From: Phillip Holmes [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, June 17, 2006 2:03 PM To: CF-Talk Subject: RE: Don't need a Windows Server OS if using Apache? Rick, I said that with tongue in cheek. I do certainly prefer **ix over doze. In all actuality, I prefer OpenBSD over all for a myriad of reasons. For people that are new **ix environments, Fedora or SUSE is great because you can install the GUI and not have to deal as much with the shell / bash very much. If you're running ColdFusion, you'll certainly need a Linux license. If you don't have one, stay with doze, but don't do XP. I'm not going to bash Microsoft any further, but anything I'll ever do in M$ again will be virtual instance running on VMWare's ESX. I've lived the nightmare of having to manage farms of dozens of doze boxes installed directly on the hardware and I'll never do that again. Warmest Regards, Phillip B.
