Jackcess looked the coolest, but it seems it needs a 1.5 JRE.

I don't think POI does access, but I could have missed it.

I didn't check if mdbtools had "write" in the 0.6 pre release, if so, that
could be an option, using cfexecute maybe? Not sure if it's a command
line engine or not...

Simplest would be to find an acceptable MS machine, and link to it via
ODBC, I reckon. If that's an option. It wouldn't take much horsepower ;-).

A linux solution would be more fun, of course.

I agree with Dave about keeping ODBC as an option. And about assuming
the best (maybe even when proven otherwise ;) about comments. It's hard
sometimes to keep things segregated, or turn a cheek, I know.
CF-TALK seems to be a rather random assortment of individuals spread
across the spectrum, which I enjoy. Well moderated, with plenty of even
keeled folk, so I don't worry if someone takes offense, we're all entitled
to
it. Best to not let it get out of hand though.
It's also a high traffic list, so clarity is important (I try, but quite
often
think: "doh, I could have said that better" "I hope it still made sense".
heh)
Somehow those two are linked. Traffic and the need for clarity. Hmm.
Someday I'll look into the phenomenon.

Anyways... isn't nifty stuff nifty? Yeah, that's the ticket...
