AIR is a client technology - you build AIR applications with HTML/JavaScript and/or Flex. AIR applications talk to web sites to get data, either via remote calls from Flex or via JavaScript calls. I'd suggest you read the Flex/PHP stuff on the Adobe site (and elsewhere): http://www.google.com/search?q=flex+php The #1 hit is Zend, then there are several Adobe-related Flex/PHP links.
