Gerald, while it might look to you as though lots of people are
having problems with hosting, I'd suggest it's not the case. THere
are thousands upon thousands of coldfusion web sites, and millions of
non-coldfusion web sites. There are HUNDREDs of hosting companies,
large and small.

Of course there are going to be hiccups from time to time in some of
those relationships.

I would dare to suggest that if you think moving away from a hosting
company and using a colocated server managed by youself is going to
eliminate all your hosting problems you're mistaken. You'll replace
one set of potential problems with another.

Whether in fact these problems materialise will be determined by how
skilful you are at managing your server and how much you stay on top
of all the issues.

For some people its a joy to manage their own servers, they have the
skills and understanding to do it well. For other people, they are
ill-equipped to handle the relentless attentio nthat managing your own
server requires.

But just becuase Richard is having problems with a hosting company
doesnt mean dealing with a hosting company is a bad idea.

In fact, my second largest client is hosted at hostmysite and we've
had no issues with them at all in the 2 years since i inherited the
site. Not one.

Cheers
