Since this is about shared hosting it is only fair to assume there were other clients on that server. And since HostMySite is an American company and CF is better represented in the US then in Europe it is only fair to assume the majority of the clients on that server were American clients. With a time difference of 5 to 8 hours between the UK and the US you were essentially asking them to upgrade 'our server' in the middle of the evening, the busiest time of the day for B2C sites. Perhaps they aren't the only ones that need to think global...
