If you want change - then its time to step up and do something about it. Get involved in your local UGM, start presenting to people, go to local techups, or non-CF conventions or twitter meets. There are SO many avenues out there for intigating change its ridiculous. Being more proactive also allows you to find work through multiple avenues as well as you build relationships with people. I would say almost the majority of contract jobs out there are fulfilled by word of mouth, that I think that Seek is almost a waste of time. The only thing you can control the change of is yourself. You can't control the change in other people.
