Michael, Yes - we had the same experience with the monitor, we actually had to generate a script to restart our web server services. It starts with killing the monitoring service. If you find a way to disable this behavior let me know. It is probably not needed in Win2k because a restart behaviour can be dictated from the services control panel - where a manual kill will not "automatically" generate a restart, but an unexpected one will.

Does anyone have any really useful experience with the monitoring service? Apart from the allairemib 404 errors, I am having grave problems with the monitoring service interfering with the web services on my machine. For example, if I stop the Apache service, the monitoring service immediately restarts it! And there does not appear to be any way to turn off this behaviour, apart from not installing or disabling the monitoring service.
