Shouldn't you be pissed at Java's (Sun's) marketing team? You can't really hold Macromedia responsible for the term "Write Once, Run Anywhere" not holding true to it's claim. If it worked like it was marketed to work, then any J2EE application would work on THE Virtual Machine - not just vendor xyz's Virtual Machine with xyz's special settings... THE Virtual Machine. And since mac OS X would support THE Virtual Machine, and since CFMX produces byte code for THE Virtual Machine - you've got nothing to worry about.
This isn't the case, so you're SOL - welcome to Java :P Just to remain positive, here's what I'd like to see happen. First, CFMX cannibalizes most Java monkeys (seeing as they're usually swayed into using whatever other people are saying is cool/anti-microsoft anyway :P ). After MX is considered the defacto in creating web-applications, Macromedia releases a new version of it, MX+, which is nothing other than CF5 with a pretty new name.
