> you think microsoft is going to acquire adobe?

not a snow-flake's chance in hell. MS miss the opportunity to by MACR,
that would have made more sence. MS has their own plans with
Expressions, SilverLight, WPF, Onetouch deployment, etc.

actually, I do get it (I think) - sneek up on the competition from
behind. See my point below about Microsoft.

ahhh.. the importance of both community and easy-to-get-into beta
programs. I couldn't say for sure but it'd probably be feasable to
make "quiet" mentions unofficially to the boss how XYZ feature was
going for, say, CF8.

in fact, it would be in the bosses best interest to encourage
employees to take an active role in such beta programs. At the very
least, be ready for an upgrade when it's all official, beat the
competition, etc.

Actually, I'm a bit surprised how much info is out on the public
domain on CF8 features. I could be wrong but it seems moreso than
previous CF releases.

And I personally think Tim Buntel and team are doing a great job the
way they're handeling this - well balanced between secrets and
disclosure although It's not exactly viral marketing (and it is still
only preaching to the troops, but it's still early days, yes?)

I was talking to a Microsoft guy last year and he was going on about
how the Adobe+Macromedia deal - and Flash - were the "800 pound
gorilla" as far as MS was concerned, with a bit of "panic" in his
voice. What a crock! How long has SilverLight been in gestation? I was
a bit sceptical then but obviously not enough. This SilverLight stuff
really caught me unaware. I really didn't think WEF/e was ever gonna
surface - at least not this soon - and didn't count on the Mono people
wanting to buy in - I just wrote it off as vapourware, etc.
