Hi Mike,

While I haven't found LinkedIn especially useful myself - a couple of
times I have used it to find a work phone number of someone I know,
for example, which is handy but not a selling benefit - I do see
potential in the tool and I've no doubt eventually something will come
up and I'll say "aha! That's why I bothered with it".

I know people who have gotten jobs out of it. It seems to be a good
online alternative to a resume - in fact, I went to see the graduate
project presentations at ECU a few weeks ago and one of their
assignments was to create a LinkedIn profile in place of a traditional
resume. People like you and me who run our own businesses might find
value in using it to find switched on staff or contractors. The
recommendations and referrals features would seem to be have potential
too.

Of course, if you have an account and don't build it/use it/publicize
it, then you won't ever get any benefit out of it... which is why I
have persisted.

Cheers,
K.
