So what we are talking about is a minimal performance cost for using CFSET
unless there are an excessive number of variables to declare which has been
reduced with the release of MX. Has anyone bench tested this? :)

It still has to parse each of the lines and execute the same code to 
assign the variable.

With CFMX there should be no execution difference because the page is 
compiled into Java before it is executed.  Therefore it is a function of 
how quickly one is to parse over the other, and this is only an overhead 
on the "first time" run.  On the "parse" issue, the tag style has more 
characters in it - therefore it must take longer to parse.
