Sadly, i think the whole Flash RIA negativity is still pretty strong in the Web application Industry and its still a hard sell.

I think you have highlighted my points exactly.

I like "new stuff" I like "change" - but I wont change just because someone tells me I should. There has to be some justification to the change. And I still have not seen enough justification for me to change in regard to Flash for complete applications.

Justification? in what regard and how. I personally think that Flash has justified itself time and time again already - its now just waiting for the developers to actually build apps with it?

I guess you have to figure out what it is you are actually looking for in a product like Flash and what it will help you with? So far the only problem I've seen in RIA development is lack of imagination (Stop trying to re-create HTML web pages in flash, and actually throw in some more dynamics / multimedia).

When I need animation and embeded streaming video and audio - then I can see a reason. But not just for regular everyday applications.

Hmm, its sad to hear you say that, as you've just been branded in my book a "flash is just a skip intro tool" campaigner. If you honestly think thats all flash is good for, then I guess you truly don't see its capabilities. Things like Flash Communication server and Remote shared objects for one, Flash Remoting the fact that you can render a screen to be used on all Majority Operating systems and still look the same, function exactly the same and perform the exact same tasks. Try that with HTML solution -- or for that matter with any language. Look past the animation and "video/audio" as most RIA's i've seen don't even use these?

Which brings me back to MXML again. I think it looks really kewl. I think I would like to use it in Cold Fusion (even without any regard for Flash - and on a certain level I am already doing that with my own applications). Which is why I was asking the questions of Sean regarding how MXML slots into the architecture where CF is concerned (and he answered fairly clearly that it really lives on the "Flash" side of the fence and not with CF).

I think you won't get an answer to that, simply being its just been put into BETA. I think the release of FLEX was just a small hype buildup to keep the MM development community aware of an upcoming product and to advertise the BETA signups? could be wrong, as i'm not a MM PR guru.

That's OK though - I am still going to continue wire-framing my application workflow with XML of some kind or other cause it makes them faster to develop in the long run.
