Hi Tim,

So you can connect from s1 to s2 via ODBC? You're are having trouble with a
native SQL Server connect?

Looks like you're having the same error message as in this post on Experts
Exchange:

I have you tried (as a quick check) an CF ODBC Socket connection to your
(successful) ODBC connect on s1?

Cheers

P.s. Beers @ MXDU! Just don't bring down that Kininmonth character! ;-)

Subject: [cfaussie] Connection verification failed for data source

Hi everyone,
I am at a complete loss with this one. I recently set up two new servers.

1: Windows 2003 Server, Apache, Coldfusion MX 6.1
2: Windows 2003 Server, MS SQL 2000

Both servers have two nic's, one for outside connection and other conected
with a gig connection to each other on 192.168.0.x IP range.

Now...problem is...I can connect from server 1 to server 2 without issue...I
can connect to the SQL server with windows ODBC connection without issue, I
can connect with Enterprise manager also without issue...but....when I try
to add a datasource to CF Server with the same details I get the following
error;

Connection verification failed for data source: ReefStateDB
[]java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error
establishing socket. Connection refused: connect The root cause was that:
java.sql.SQLException: [Macromedia][SQLServer JDBC Driver]Error establishing
socket. Connection refused: connect

I have reinstalled CF and updates twice but no luck.

      CF Data Source Name
        Database
        Server Port
        Username

        Password (16-character limit)

      Does anyone have any ideas?

This one has me complete stuck!

Thanks in advance

Tim
