I have to say that I am disappointed in the decision.
For a small developer like myself it was a good opportunity to sample the
applications in one easy area without the huge expense of having to purchase
server products, and where the IP was not locked down as in demo versions.
Maybe there will be similar opportunities with MVLP
On the bright side... I just renewed so I get to access devnet for another
year :)
I have attached the email sent to me today, I hope this doesn't break any
rules.

Dear DevNet Professional customer,
I am sending you this message to let you know that Macromedia will
consolidate product subscriptions into the Macromedia Volume License Program
(MVLP) and will discontinue sales of the DevNet subscription service as of
January 3, 2005. We will fully support current DevNet subscribers through
February 1, 2006. We appreciate your support of DevNet and want to let you
know the following key points about the program changes:
. Your DevNet subscription will be fully honored for the remainder of
its term. You will continue to receive new versions of the software
currently included in DevNet in your portal, as well as the DevNet Resource
Kits (DRKs) released throughout the term of your subscription.
. If you have a renewal code that has not been applied to a
subscription, you should apply it before February 1, 2005.
. When your DevNet subscription expires, you will have the option to
purchase a new 24-month subscription to Studio MX 2004 with Flash
Professional, as well as a new 24-month subscription to Contribute.
Information about new subscriptions is at http://www.macromedia.com/go/AMJS.
. When your current subscription expires, you will no longer have
access to the DevNet portal for software downloads, serial numbers, or
product resources such as the DRKs. Please be sure to download the software
and resources in your subscription and record your serial numbers prior to
the expiration date.
. Even though DevNet is a 100% electronic delivery service, we will be
providing backup CDs for the tools software and DRKs in DevNet. CDs will be
sent to all subscribers early in February 2005. Please make sure your
address in the DevNet portal is current (with a non-PO box address).
If you have any questions about these changes, please visit
http://www.macromedia.com/go/AMJT, send us an e-mail at
[EMAIL PROTECTED], or call us toll-free at 866-411-2345. If your DevNet
subscription is a benefit of the Macromedia Alliance Partner Program, please
direct any questions to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Sincerely,
Jim Guerard
