Very briefly, Layers/divs are for layout and tables are for tabular data. There
is little that can't be done in good design using styles and divs. Tables
should be used only to present data in a tabular form. The main reason for this
approach is accessibility.

From an application design point of view it helps to use layers/divs as you can
effectively seperate layout and function. Also with clever application of
layers/divs you can have a system that can be reskinned by changing stylesheets

try the following sites.

Also I recomend looking at this site carefully it's a great example of what can
be done.

Yeah, I've read all the schpeels on how doing a site in Layers is so
much better than Tables.

Do you guys deal strictly in layers,or lay out in tables? And how
does the mantra of "Tables Are Bad / Layers Are Cool" fit into the
world of web application development?

Cheers,

Chad
who used to have a haircut that used layers
