css is good for accessiblity and mulitpurposing your content to different devices. css facilitates greater abstraction between content and layout.
having said that, you have to put in a lot more time and effort to replicate a complex table layout with css. the implementation of css in IE will eventually drive you insane and have you rocking quietly in a corner. my perspective on using css is: only if it's in the requirements, or if you've got a lot of time to tweak, tweak, tweak.
