While I think I see your point - I do think it's more of a requirement than an implementation detail. You had listed a set of specific filters that could be done on the blog. I was saying that we should make it more generic - allow for a filter (entries in cat or entries in date range), a sort (sort on column foo) and a sort direction. That's nice and generic, right? :)
