OK, so technically Homesite makes a temporary file and then puts it on the server. With eclipse I have to have a total local copy of my site end edit it then move it to my development server manually.

When you have a development server and a production server you can do what ever you want on the development server.

You can't do that.
The editor has to create a local copy (if it needs you to press a button to create one or not is another matter).

Besides, you really want to be making by hand changes to a live web site ?
