First, as great as Mastering CF may be, it's just too huge a book to digest easily. Same for Ben's Web App Construction Kit. That's what I like about the Cert Study Guide. Despite any complaints against certs in general, this is just a good, simple, slim book that covers even intermediate to advanced topics shortly and sweetly.
As for the CF docs, well, I offered 3 URLs. :-) First, you're looking in the Cfusion directory. You won't find them there. The URL for "yourserver" below would suggest that the docs are in the webroot (typically, where your CF templates are stored), in a CFDOCS directory. But if you don't have them (they aren't installed unless you ask, and even then there are security recommendations against installing them on a production system), that's why I offered the livedocs.macromedia.com site (for the HTML versions) and the http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/documentation.html URL for the PDF's. Go to town. The CF Docs are a seriously underused resource. Studio users should definitely print out and read "Using ColFusion Studio".
