Mimi Yin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> sent you an Update on an Event from Chandler:

Title: Email/SMS/IM Notifications
Location: 1-800-391-1709 307035, #osaf-staff

Tuesday Mar 4, 2008 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM PST

AGENDA
We can review this wiki page:
http://chandlerproject.org/Notes/NotificationsMockups#NotificationsFuture

It details how email/sms/im notifications might work.

MEETING NOTES
Schedule / Timing
- Unlikely to have exposed end-user functionality for email/sms/im
notifications any time soon
- Infrastructure work can be happening but Widgets will be offered first to
users

SMS?
- We'll use [EMAIL PROTECTED] email addresses to send notifications to phones
to avoid SMS charges

User options?
- As a first pass, it will probably be easiest to set options for users, e.g.
+ Email reports are 1x a day
+ Mobile phones are as they happen
+ IM are as they happen

Open Issues
- Jared: Might be hard to send notifications as things happen
+ Need to coordinate with Brian to understand what he's planning for how often
notifications are sent

- How do we break up messages to mobile phones and IM?
+ IM, each notification item = 1 message
+ Mobile phones, we'll need to test to see what makes the most sense

Additional feature idea:
- Jared suggested we also send reports for forward looking things: e.g. Stuff
coming up this week

Next actions:
- Jared to investigate what he might be able to do to enable Travis to set up
Widget Gallery front-end if he has time
- Mimi to spec out how 'forward-looking' reports might work
